Tonight, we go up against Jonathan Pettibone, who was the Phillies' surprise star last year, posting a 2.45 ERA over the course of the half-season that he was in the bigs. This year, he's pitched two games, gone seven innings in each one, and hasn't allowed a single run. Let's change that.

A disappointing loss tonight, no doubt. Torres had a bizarre start in which he allowed 5 runs in the first (including a grand slam by Tyler Austin), and then started pitching perfectly. His pitch count caught up with him in the 6th, though, and he tired out pretty quick. The bullpen picked him up, though, and have now thrown 19.2 straight innings without allowing a run. If our starters could take a few lessons from our relievers, we'd be golden. Anyway, the 5-run deficit proved too much to overcome, though we did hand Pettibone his first ERs of the season.
