If I was to write up my complete proposal for a financial system in OOTP, it'd practically be a book. I'm not kidding. There are so many areas that are tie into the financial system to one degree or another, and I'd try to cover them all so as to make as complete a proposal as possible. There's everything from how the salaries for released players should be handled to market definitions and ratings for cities/metropolitan areas to the proper percentile distribution of player salaries, and a huge amount more.
Lately I've begun thinking again about the question of stadiums and how they contribute to revenue. I've got the basics of a 'premium seating' (i.e. luxury suites and club seats) system worked out. It'd be part of a larger system allowing the user to upgrade their ballpark to a certain extent over its lifetime, as well as building a new park, both of which are certainly part of the economics of real baseball. Which is of course why it'd be a part of any comprehensive financial system proposal.
The trick in all this is to come up with a financial system that is easy-to-use, customizable, and realistic. No easy feat that. But I do keep those three things in mind whenever I'm mulling over ideas. Sometimes trade-offs are required in one area to satisfy the needs of the others.
