World Tournament - Jr. Bantamweight - Quarter-Finals
Quarter-Finals:
Khaosai Galaxy 4-0-0 (4), Thailand vs Marat Mazimbaev 2-0-0 (1), Kazakhstan - Galaxy had no problems with Mazimbaev, scoring knockdowns in the 1st round, 4th round and the KO half way through the 5th round.
Sung Kil Moon 4-0-0 (3), South Korea vs Dimitri Kirilov 2-0-1 (0), Russia - Moon was in complete control, opening a gash over the right eye of Kirilov and reopening it again in the 5th. It was Moon's power however that ended the fight as he battered Kirilov until senseless before the referee halted it to save him further harm. Despite the lack of a knockdown, it was the correct call.
Gustavo Ballas 3-0-0 (1), Argentina vs Jose Navarro 4-0-0 (1), United States - A terrific action bout that went back and forth, Navarro opened an early lead then they traded the rest of the way, with Navarro landing a sweet combination in the 14th to plant the favorite Ballas on the canvas. It went the distance with the judges scoring it 7-6, 7-6 and 8-5 for the winner Navarro! Navarro wasn't expected to contend for a medal, now he's in the Semi-Finals with the guarantee of at least a bronze as he faces Galaxy next.
Luis Alberto Perez 1-0-0 (1), Nicaragua vs Jose Ruiz 1-0-0 (1), Puerto Rico - After splitting two competitive rounds Perez lowered the boom, scoring a pair of knockdowns, the final one for the KO with 15 seconds left in the 3rd.
