Sometimes your manager and your barber fall in love with a guy and develop a blind spot. You have to help them out with a little dose of reality in these cases.

Hartman is 26-122 (.213) with 13 BB (.289 OBP) since June 1. He has 38 strikeouts among those 96 outs, and he is supposed to be a contact guy. That’s not acceptable for the top of the order (see Pierre-Louis Simon). Tracy Sweeney, hitting .366 with 7 HR in 82ab, will take over in CF and bat third until Dominguez returns. Sanchez will return to the leadoff spot (where he belongs).

Sweeney as a regular leaves me with only two left-handed batters in the lineup and a left-handed bench, so I am toying with the idea of replacing Simon (.208) with John. It would be the first time since 2002 that Simon was not in the regular lineup. The only thing stopping me is John’s notorious lack of power.
