I agree that Lewis will not fight Klitschko again. It seems to me that when a fighter says "I will fight if the money is right..." He is actually saying "I will not be fighting this man again...."
Actually, I was pretty impressed with Lewis' chin on Saturday. I mean he was rocked in round 2 but he stayed up. After that, he seemed to take Vitaly's shots pretty well. Which surprised and impressed me......maybe as he is getting older his chin is getting better just like Big George.
I was also disappointed in Lewis' lack of grace in the post-fight interview.....that was pitiful....Vitaly deserved some credit for his performance. For me though, this fight wasn't as much about Lewis as it was about Klitschko. I thought Lewis fought a courageous, and yes, pretty good fight. I mean seriously, Klitschko's face didn't look like that by accident. And therein lies the real story of the fight......Klitschko's toughness. I thought he would go away the first time Lewis hit him (I think Lewis thought the same thing incidentally), but he took his shots and fought back. What's more he never appeared to be in big trouble.....I was shocked.
Finally, I don't completely discount the accuracy of Lewis' post fight comments.......Vitaly didn't exactly look fresh to me after 6 either. Obviously, the cut was hampering him but I thought Lewis was becoming more effective in the 5th and 6th rounds. I don't think either one of them clearly had the upper hand at the point it was stopped.....they both looked a little tired and spent just as you would expect after a 6 round war.
I will steer clear of the Lewis top 10 all-time debate. He never got to fight the best fighters of his generation in their primes (well, maybe Holyfield was in his prime...it's so hard to tell with him..lol). Of course, all you hear about Lewis is stories of fighters avoiding him which, of course, says something in and of itself.
