When I announced that we would be following the 1873 season through letters written by Buffalo player Ryan Gilmer, little did I know that in 1934 Ackerman & Lewis - publishers of the Barrow's and specialists of all things baseball - had published "On the Road: A Collection of Letters from Ball Players" which presented over 200 letters in a commented edition.
As it turns out, most of Ryan Gilmer's letters in my possession were published in that very book.
Therefore, to make things easy for me (and save me some valuable time), I've decided to simply present some of those letters with their original comments from 1934.
