Looking for material to write about baseball is great because there's always something new, but seemingly forgotten, that pops up every now and then.
Case in point, a reader sent me letters that his great grandfather (baseball player for the Buffalo Stampede) wrote to his wife in the early 1870s.

I've therefore decided to mostly use this new material to tell the tale of the upcoming 1873 season.
