Bump with a question:

I was told not to edit DAT files with a text editor but instead to go out and find a good hex editor instead. This thread states otherwise in reference to the name files. What is the final consensus on this issue? I also want to edit my Manager.dat file in order to change the location of where my manager.bmp is located.

EDIT: Never mind. I found a really good thread on the subject. Any advice is still welcome though.
