Independent Baseball League expands by 2 more clubs:
The IBL has announced to creation of 2 new franchises, the Boston Bombers and the Dallas Texans. Both will enter the Coastal League, with Boston heading to the Keystone Division with Pittsburgh, New Hampshire, Baltimore, and Philadelphia while Dallas will enter the Lone Star Division alongside in state rivals Tulsa, San Antonio, Houston and Corpus Christi.
Plans were in place to move El Paso, but that fell through when the Hawaii Warriors franchise bid failed.
The league also announced a new playoff format for the upcoming 2017 season. There will be 2 wild card teams in each league, and those 2 teams will play in a 1 game playoff after the final day of the regular season, to determine the leagues wild card winner. The Wild Card cannot have home field advantage in any series, except the World Series should their league win the All Star game.
