Two Cuban Top 10 fighters squared off and the action was furious over the first four rounds with Perez landing clean combinations while Ortiz connected with singular, but more powerful, hooks and uppercuts. The pace dramatically slowed but almost every round was debatable with the exception of the sixth and ninth where Perez used his jab and occasional crosses to clearly win those stanzas and that helped him garner the SD in spite of a point deduction in the final round, 97-92, 94-95 & 96-93
Erkan Teper 28-3 (24) vs Michael Wallisch 23-6-2 (10)
This months regional battles continued when these two highly ranked Germans squared off. Wallisch has been the biggest spoiler in the sport but Teper took the fight to him early and rocked him several times with huge right hands during a completely dominant opening three rounds. Michael began to work his way into the fight behind his jab as the pace slowed to a crawl. Wallisch stunned Erkan with a right hand late in round eight and he busted open his lip with an uppercut in round nine. While the rounds Teper won were bigger, Wallisch sprung another upset via UD, 96-94 & 95-94 x2
