The “buyers” list will be studied carefully for Patriot League teams that might need a veteran closer. George King has increased his demand for an extension to 4 years at $5M/year. That is still a bargain for a quality closer but I have younger, cheaper, and perhaps even better options. He likely won’t be compensation-eligible as a free agent so any compensation that I will receive must come in the form of a trade before July 31.
If King is traded, Brooks will assume the closer role with Nathaniel Jones becoming the primary setup man. Quinones will be the third short option, with Garza and Trejo taking the sixth and seventh innings. Davies and Wilkerson will be the long men. I think that bullpen is good enough to make King expendable if I can get a good prospect or right field upgrade in return.
