Former Seattle SP Luis “Pokey” Gonzalez was signed to a minor-league contract and will report to Lexington. He became a free agent when Seattle did not offer arbitration after going 13-13 with a 5.05 ERA in 2006. Pokey was the #1 overall pick in the 2001 draft, and on track to be a star until he missed the entire 2004 season with an elbow problem. Enriquez says we should not expect much out of him, but you never know.

Minor awards:
AAA Pitcher of the Month: Edgardo Ordonez (Lexington) 4-0, 0.51 ERA in May
AA Batter of the Month: LF Lucio Borges (Dayton) .330, 9 HR, 24 RBI in May
A Pitcher of the Month: Donald Johnson (Evansville) 5-0, 1.67 ERA in May

Johnson was our 2006 5th-round pick. He is 8-1 with a 2.01 ERA and 83 K’s in 71 IP.
