HA! You're weird? I'm attached to players in other people's fictional universes. Go read Orcin's Story, and tell me you don't have a favorite Colonel by the end of it.
Mine right now is a 3B named Lucio Martinez... he's starting to wind down a bit, but Mr. Orcin found him when someone tried to sneak him through on waivers so they could stash him. He fought through scouts from everywhere saying he'd never stick... and he's STUCK and been a productive Colonel for a few great seasons now, including two World Series wins.
This player isn't even in my game, but I remember that from memory.
Anyone can become an "attachment" if you let your imagination run and become invested in what these players do in these universes.
