Do you really think that they or most other teams in the MLB with the money to do so are wrong in their assumption? But since Hamels isnt a top 10-20 pitcher in baseball MLB execs are clearly not as smart as you. Or maybe the phillies are just that stupid and no other team would have paid him the same amount of money?  But certainly MLB General Managers who know far more about how to price guys than you are me are wrong in their assumption. This contract is money every top 20-30 pitcher gets, no big deal.
