You know, I really like this logo for the Giants of the 40's and 50's. For earlier Giants teams I would suggest a really simple look with just "Giants", "New York" and the interlocked N and Y (invented by the Giants first, sorry Yankees fans). Also I would not use orange for the earlier look, just black and white or dark dark blue and white.
OTOH, I will def use this logo when I get to 1940 or thereabouts!
