12/14 On the meetings final day West Michigan comes to me with an offer for Gutierrez. And while I cannot move him for anywhere near what teams are offering, they put a kid on the table my scouts love, and we make a move. Trading 23 year old prospect Ralph Bradford (whom we acquired from Pittsburgh in 2012 and was the #98 prospect in 2013) to West Michigan in exchange for the kid we loved. 22 year old Cory Shaw is a very good OF, who doesn't run great but can steal bases, has zero HR pop. However our scouts think his ability to put the bat on the ball and find gaps could translate into a 350ish hitter with 50 2B pop who will get his walks and not punch out a ton. They thought it was more than worth the gamble, and we took it.
