The meetings began today and there was a trade announced about 20 seconds after they opened.

12/10 The Columbus Clippers sent 30 year old IF Gilberto Caraballo to Corpus Christi for 30 year old SP Marcos Diaz and 638K in cash. In 100 games over the past 2 years Caraballo his hit 278/341/382 with 4 HR's and 32 RBI's (306 AB's). He figures to take over at SS in Corpus Christi. Diaz is 21-29 5.26 in 66 starts covering 324IP. He will move into the middle of the Clipper rotation.

12/10 Chicago makes a deal that our scouts are ecstatic about. Sending 26 year old IF Chris Dixon and our 2014 1st round pick (#25) to Edmonton for 29 year old SP Ramiro Morales and Edmonton's 2014 1st round pick (#9). Dixon, a LH bat, can play 2B, 3B and SS, where we have depth, and scouts feel his bat is potentially suited in a 5 or 6 hole. Morales has been in the Trappers AAA pen most of the last 2 seasons. His stuff is off the charts, but he'll give up the long ball. He's going to allow us to move Butler into the pen and give some of the young arms time. We love the change of picks as well, moving up 16 slots.
