I'm trying it out today, and will likely purchase it later today, but having grown up in Japan and breathing Japanese baseball for most my childhood, I feel I should point out quite a number of minor errors in the default team names of the *** setup in OOTP 13. It's minor, but if authenticity is desired, these changes should be made.

Japanese team naming customs are varied between the geographical and corporate owners. Some have just the geographic, some just the corporate, and quite a few have both. It's confusing, so the mistakes are understandable.

So here is the list of full team names, and how they are commonly referred:

Chiba (city) Lotte (company) Marines = Lotte Marines
(OOTP has Chiba|Marines)
Fukuoka (city) Softbank (company) Hawks = Softbank Hawks or SH
(OOTP has Fukuoka|Hawks)
Hokkaido (prefecture) Nippon Ham (company) Fighters = Nippon Ham Fighters
(OOTP has Hokkaido|Ham Fighters). This one particularly bugs me, because while it's amusing to Americans to refer to them as the "Ham Fighters" it's like saying the "Angeles Dodgers," "Francisco Giants," or "York Mets"
Orix (company) Buffaloes = Orix Buffaloes
(OOTP is correct)
Tohoku (region) Rakuten (company) Golden Eagles = Rakuten Eagles
(OOTP has Tohoku|Golden Eagles)
Saitama (prefecture) Seibu (company) Lions = Seibu Lions
(OOTP is correct)
Chunichi (company) Dragons = Chunichi Dragons
(OOTP is correct)
Hanshin (company, but also refers to a region) Tigers = Hanshin Tigers
(OOTP is correct)
Hiroshima (city) Toyo (company) Carp = Hiroshima Carp
(OOTP is correct, Toyo is rarely referenced in real life)
Tokyo (city) Yakult (company) Swallows = Yakult Swallows
(OOTP has Tokyo|Swallows)
Yokohama (city) DeNA (company) BayStars = traditionally Yokohama BayStars
(which is what OOTP has but with the new company name in 2012 it's in a bit of flux)
Tokyo (city) Yomiuri (company) Giants = Yomiuri Giants
(OOTP is correct, Tokyo Giants is older)

As for abbreviations of them in English, I'm not sure what the convention typically is, but for sure "FD" for the Hawks is outdated, as the team was referred to as the Daiei Hawks until 2005, and were typically abbreviated as FDH. I would recommend abbreviations as initials rather than of the city or company name (if one is interested in authenticity), but they are by no means standard.

Marines: CLM
Hawks: SH (or FSH)
Fighters: NHF (or HNHF)
Buffaloes: OB
Eagles: RGE (really not sure about this one)
Lions: SL

Dragons: CD
Tigers: HT
Carp: HC
Swallows: TYS
BayStars: YBS
Giants: YG

In case anyone is interested, the Pitching Award name is the Sawamura Award. Other than that, there isn't really a "Hank Aaron" award equivalent, and Rookie of the Year is really the same.

Thanks for letting me vent!
You could be useful for the next version of OOTP. I am hoping they make this more of an international game ala FM. I think a "reputation" system or something similar will be needed.
