I also go all the way back to tabletop games. Good ole Negamco really awakened my interests in such replay ventures and I actually played out an entire NL season, game by game, using stats from 1969, then 1970 and 1971 because that's how long it took me. Then came a play-by-mail league, the Statis-Pro cards and charts with increased statistical accuracy, and toying with simplifying BLM (Big League Mgr).

After a lull, a search on Google revealed What If Sports. Fascinating, but too expensive to keep buying into each league every 3 months or so.

Further searching brought me to Diamond Mind, but that was too involved and cumbersome feeling to me, with few team options unless you rated your own teams - which I did.

OOTP has been as close to perfect as could be imagined for a computer game with all the options and I've played numerous historical seasons with favorite or intriguing teams of the past.
