2006 Continental Baseball Association World Series
Washington Admirals (92-70) vs. Louisville Colonels (104-58)
GAME 4 @ Washington: Aaron Wilkerson (12-8) vs. Carlos Pereira (8-8)
The Admirals picked up a run on three hits in the first inning, but Pedro Dominguez led off the second with a homer to tie the score at 1. Washington scored two runs in the third to reclaim the lead on a single by CF Gary Dickerson. Dominguez and Bland singled to open the fourth, and Dominguez scored on a sacrifice fly by Brown to cut the lead in half.
The seesaw battle continued as Washington scored another run on a walk and two more hits in the bottom of the fourth. That was the end of Wilkerson’s day. Morgan threw out a runner at the plate to end the fourth inning and Hartman gunned down another runner at the plate in the fifth to keep the score at 4-2. Cristo Rodriguez tied the score again in the top of the sixth with a two-out, two-run homer.
Louisville took their first lead of the game in the seventh, scoring two runs on three hits and a Washington error. Garza finished four innings of shutout relief work in the bottom of the seventh and was in position to get the win. Nathaniel Jones pitched a scoreless eighth inning against a string of left-handed batters (including Banks) for Washington. Chris Brown gave King a day off with a two-run homer in the top of the ninth and O’Daniel mopped up instead.
FINAL: Louisville 8, Washington 4
Louisville leads the series 3-1.
P.S. I just watched my other favorite team cough up a 3-1 lead, so no way that I am getting over-confident here.
