by 1904 and 05 i was using the new modified files as if I was using the 2005 season, and as you can see the numbers exploded (not in the first uploaded pic, will explain why below- but in the other two babe ruth would be embarressed to have been in the league)

The first pic to see is the bottom one, which should be for the 1903 season (but screen capped in january hence the 1904 on top- they came up a bit in wrong order. but that was with the revised totals, and 3 players hit 60 home runs
the second pic is from 1904 and in this year I moved all the modifiers back to 1.000 on the setup screen (as even though they were 1.000 in the file, they still change each year even though the main totals (ag, h, hr ect stay the same). Here they dropped back to what you would expect for 1904
The middle pic is for 1905 when i went back to what the computer suggested and here we see a player with 134 home runs.

So that suggestion, which seems like it should work, does not really- at least in the dead ball era which is very tough to modify due to the low hr numbers, and the fact the game distributes hr to pitchers in a somewhat odd way- certain pitchers that year will give up 150 home runs

Hence i feel my original idea was better, as it seemed to slow the hr rise so the leader was around 27-40 (reasonable but not crazy) and the strikeout pitchers were still +200 but not around 400. It only took me about 2 min at the start of each year to make the calculations and change the numbers. So I will give that a test playing out a full 110 years and see what happens. As my 1902 expereince shows, not every year will work out perfectly. But thta can be noted, so particular years that seem too far off can be modifed on future play.
