I can see why somebody may want to simulate the lock-out in the game. It would be interesting to be coaching European teams with NHL players on the rosters. However, we just don't know how long the lock-out is going to last. We may well see a half season of the NHL yet.

Is it worth simulating in game? In my view, probably not. This rubbish happens only once every eight/ten years (or so seems to be the case given recent history). It's probably not worth trying to code something like this when there are so many other things that could be included with the first release of the game.
