For an indy league, I would suggest choosing a year in the past and either let it evolve naturally or redo the same year for say 5-10 yrs a time every January 1st. For one of my Indy leagues I choose financials from 1955 no player makes more then 40-50K, They sign the .5 - 1.5 star players. You can choose financials from 1 yr and strategy from another, while the league yr will still be 2012.
