The big bat in the middle of the line-up is first baseman
Ivan Cabrera, who hit .306 with 30 home runs last year for the Whalers. Cabrera was a former second round pick of the Brooklyn Brawlers, drafted out of high school in Belmont, California. A trade to Boston gave Cabrera the opportunity to start for the first time in his career, and his power numbers and average have steadily risen. At 28 years old Cabrera has 180 home runs for his career, and has raised his batting average to .272 for his career.
