Bout Summary

Park's first victory in the Minimumweight Super Six against Mexican Gutierrez wasn't exactly pretty, but it was exciting and convincing. Dirty tactics abounded, with the fiery Park being the primary culprit, but it was Park's sharp punching and skilful boxing that secured her a comfortable unanimous decision at the Sports Center, Okcheon Gun.

The first saw a freewheeling, wild swinging affair that had a reckless edge to it all. Neither boxer seemed to employ an intelligent strategy, instead getting caught up in a slugging match.

A left hook sent Guiterrez down heavily late in round two. She managed to beat the count, and with no time left in the round, made it back on unsteady legs to her corner.

Guiterrez arguably won the third as she landed her favourite right cross, Park, retaliated with a few jabs and one-two combinations.

The battle began to turn in the fourth when Guiterrez changed her strategy, abandoning her original plan to out-slug Park, and turned towards a more disciplined approach. Park sole action of note was to garner a warning for a low punch.

What followed was a back-and-forth sharing of rounds. That changed in the tenth when Park dominated with effective combos and right hooks, though Guiterrez tried to apply pressure, the snap seemed to have gone from her punches.

Guiterrez's left eye had began to close in the sixth, and by the eleventh, the eye was almost shut, allowing Park to land an increasing number of right hands, the ringside physician was called to examine the eye and surprised many fight insiders when he signalled for the fight to continue.

The game Guiterrez put forth a last surge in the twelfth round with her limited vision, but it was not enough to overcome the point deficit.

Park moves to, 17-4-0 (5), whilst Ortiz suffers her third consecutive defeat, exiting the tournament with, 17-6-0 (4).
