Mickey Mantle made his debut and won Rookie of the Year in the NL for the Phillies, hitting 18 homers and hitting .280.

Eddie Mathews won Rookie of the Year in the AL for the Yankees, hitting 14 home runs while hitting .244.

Stan Musial had a nice rebound at 28 to win the NL Outstanding Hitter Award, hitting .346 with 22 home runs. He'll need to do better in the power department if he is going to reach 400.
