2033 IPA Final Recaps

Elnora, Fairfax, IPA's Best
The regular IPA season is now history and the "second season" begins - the all-important Pro Cup playoffs - 8 teams have won their divisions and now they will go up against one another in quest of the coveted IPA Pro Cup, symbolic of professional baseball superiority in the Islands. The Elnora All-Stars were the best team in the Ruthlandian Union with a 93-61 record, while the Fairfax Frogs were the superior squad in the Tycobbian Union with a 102-52 mark. They have been chosen the teams most likely to capture Pro Cup this year.

The Elnora All-Stars outdueled the Belle Plaine Musketeers by 5 games and hauled in the RU East for the third straight season. They never were pressed very hard for the title. Other RU divisional winners were LaGrange, a comfortable 11-game victor over Far Mountain in the RU North. The Sports won for the second year in a row. St. John whipped San Dimas, Grand City and Crystal Lake by 6 games in the RU South. The victor in the RU West was Sligo, who won a single-game playoff to edge out Fort Benton. The Rovers were 9 games back of the Defenders at the halfway mark.

The Fairfax Frogs had a 5-team battle on their hands in the first half of the season, but they went on a 53-21 rampage in the second half and ran away with the Tycobbian North by 20 games over the Hartsdale Hellcats. In the TU South, Summerland had to fight off the Turon Typhoons the entire season and finally nipped them by 2 games. Over in the TU East the East Point Panthers were third at mid-season and trailed Midway and Tuckanarra by a few games, but they turned it on and swept past both of them in the second half and finally bested runner-up Hillsboro by 4 games. The La Claire Lynx were victorious in the TU West, but they had to overcame the Kenwood Wildcats with a second-half surge to win by 6 games. The Lynx were 2 games behind at the All-Star Game.
