Notes

Ji-Hyun Park 16-3-0 (5 KO's) vs. Etsuko Tada 11-0-2 (2 KO's)

Park entered having lost her first group bout and her IFBA title to Su-Yun Hong. Tada came in unbeaten as a professional and a dual title holder, the WBA & WBC Silver titles.

Tada's 9th defense of WBA female Minimumweight Title, and, her 1st defense of the WBC Silver female Minimumweight Title.

Bout Summary

Spurred on by a wildly enthusiastic crowd invigorated by the action, Park, for the best part, rose magnificently to the occasion.

Feeling the need to vindicate herself for her previous defeat, the home fighter's confidence quickly soaring after coming out looking sharp in the opening rounds and establishing a constant attack using her straight right hand.

The visiting champion appeared lethargic, until a low blow by Park compelled Tada into a more aggressive mode. Forced onto the back foot, Park tried to turn counter puncher, yet lacked the instincts to make it effective.

Tada declared all-out-war in the fifth and sixth, seemingly tagging Park at will, retaliation came in the form of some ill-timed straight counters, and at the end of round six, an after the bell punch that also missed it's target.

Park overcame a torrid seventh to respond with some great smothering tactics that allowed a volley of hooks and uppercuts to drive Tada into the ropes, where the deluge continued until the bell sounded.

A state of peace was seemingly declared for the majority of the final rounds, with both fighters going through the motions.

Tada moves to, 12-0-2 (2), whilst Park suffers her second consecutive defeat, drops to, 16-4-0 (5).
