The online league I participate in is currently going through its first free agency on OOTP 13. I'm wondering if anyone can explain to me what impact, if any, promised roles have in negotiations - as well as any long-term effects.

I'm certain that promising roles does, in some way, improve the chances that a player signs. What happens, though, if a player is promised a spot in the starting lineup but then placed on the bench? Do they just get mad? Does OOTP have some mechanism to force the issue? Does the player ask to be traded, or ignore any extension offers? Does it affect the team's standing with current free agents at the same position, or future free agents in general?

The feature appears to be undocumented, so any clarification would be appreciated.
