I am always amused when other people assume that everyone elses financial situation is the same as there's.
11 cents a day isn't much, the price of a movie is more, the price of going to a real ball game is more, blah blah blah, the reasons to purchase full price are endless.
I know full well what it's like to pinch every penny, every single penny. It isn't fun, and the difference between buying something for $34.99 and $39.99 can be the make or break for a lot of people.
Don't just assume that $5 is nothing. It's a lot to many people.
If the guy can't afford it at full price or just can't pay full price, why is it he needs to be ridiculed about it on the forums?
