How many minor leagues are you using?
If you start at the beginning with a full slate of minor league teams you will run out of players in about 100 years. Start with no minors, and then add AAA around 1910, and that's it.
Since you are using players that actually made it to the majors there is no need for 5 minor leagues to develop players. One seems to work just fine. If you are still getting fictional players in the early 21st century, post back...I haven't gotten that far with mine.
