Cory Luebke turned in a good performance, allowing 4 hits, 3 runs and 4 walks while striking out 9 hitters over 6 innings but failed to get the win behind another stagnant effort by the Padres offense. Luebke's 4 walks would be the killer for him because the 3 runs wouldn't have scored on 4 hits alone.
The Padres did get 7 hits off of the D'Backs, but couldn't turn those hits into anything through the first 8 innings. The 9th inning was a different story though. Will Venable hit an RBI double in the 9th, then with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 1 out Matt Macri struck out and Chris Denorfia grounded out.
The Padres will now go on a 6-game road trip to Los Angeles and Colorado while the D'Backs will go to Colorado before having a 9-game homestand.
