Kentucky is a team poised for its first taste of the playoffs
Many of you are familiar with the PEBA and its Japanese sister league, the LRS. Our leagues are heavily involved in the OOTP affairs and have been featured prominently in OOTP Developments advertisements, community spotlights, and Road to Release articles. While we look forward to a future migration to OOTP 13 down the road, today we present the PEBA's first OOTP 12 general manager opening, and the first PEBA opening of any kind in over half a year!
The
Kentucky Thoroughbreds began their history as a laughingstock. Losing at least 98 games in each of your first five seasons will have that effect. But losing also has the effect of returning high draft picks and, while that doesn't count for much if you swing and miss, Kentucky has done an exemplary job of knocking their selections out of the park. A collection of homegrown talent that includes
Avery "Numbers" Parkinson,
Leslie "Three Finger" McDonald, and
Edgar "Hammerhead" Valentín has made the Kentucky's second five seasons a whole lot more bearable than the first five. The Thoroughbreds posted their first winning campaign in 2012 before settling in as a club that flirts with the .500 mark, only to fall short late in the season.
Team owner
Héctor Shatner (yes, that's
Bill's son... the better-known Shatner passed away in 2014, leaving Héctor in charge) has run out of patience with "flirting with .500." There's too much talent in this organization for the Thoroughbreds to be languishing in third place. After all, we haven't even begun to talk about the young studs who have recently graduated to the big league club -
Larry "Schnozz" Schultz,
Alfredo "R" Aranda,
Miguel "Ping" Yánez - or the exciting talent working its way through the minors -
Jaime Espinoza,
Doug Stokes,
Jesús López.
Héctor wants results, and as the son of a rich and famous actor, he's used to getting what he wants. The questions is: Are you the man to deliver what Héctor and Thoroughbreds fans lust for? This so? Then what are you waiting for?
