Just finished the 1st year in my new fictional league.
A little background of it. The league is based in the Midwest (North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska). It's a 16 team league with two sub leagues, each have one division of 8 teams. One wildcard winner plus the League winner face off and then the World Series after that.
I took over the Cedar Rapids Cherokees after I simmed from 1970-1990 (deleted League history and erased player service time) and then from 1990-2011 offseason (20 years of history). Prior to the 2012 season, Cedar Rapids didn't have a season over .500 since 2003. My first year, I go 90-72 and lose in the first round of the playoffs. My owner was thrilled at my season and upped the budget to 112 million, up 6 million from 106 the previous year.
I have 4 soon-to-be free agents who are all expected to be Type A. I don't plan on re-signing any, but rather offer arbitration and hope a few decline so I can get some draft picks. Only one is under 30 years of age. 3 of the 4 are also SP (each one 10+ games), so it's a very risky move to let 3 of my 5 starting pitchers hit the market, but I figure I can sign some cheaper ones during FA and net a good amount of draft picks.
