Bottom of the 11th inning, runners at first and second, two out.
Single to left field, then the left fielder flubs the pickup.
The game gives the left fielder an error, credits the batter with a single, and the game is over. All well and good, except...
The batter was given an RBI. Now either the run would have scored regardless of the error, in which case there should be (a) an earned run, (b) no error and (c) an RBI, since we don't care about the trailing runners and the lead runner would have scored anyway, or else the run would not have scored but for the error, in which case there should be (a) no earned run, (b) an error and (c) no RBI. Thus, the game's scoring was internally inconsistent on this play.
