June swoon

Ouch- 10-18 in June. We're carrying a five-game losing streak into July. We now sit at 43-41, in fourth place and five games behind division-leading Mexico City. Some of our slip can be blamed on injuries, as we lost both John McCants and Kendrick Boyd for chunks of time. Top prospect Vincent Jefferson has come up and has started well, and outfielder Cris Cardenas was signed for $800K to provide depth. Cornell Walton has had a tough year and is only hitting .249. Luis Molina has provided some power with 14 home runs, but we have not been a good power-hitting team overall. Matt Johnson pitched well at the top of the rotation, and Jose Gutierrez continued to dominate, but the rest of the staff had a rough month.

I'm not sure whether we'll be buyers or sellers at the deadline at this point. There's a lot to like about this club, and we're certainly still in the hunt, but this year feels like more of a letdown compared to last year.
