Anyway, it's sort of bizzare: it seems it is only a few of the Rookie teams that have seen like 17 or 18 guys simply disapear at the league expansion point of the season.

Just had similar happen to me . I play out each game and just completed game 100 of my first season when a message telling me "Danville have an illegal number of players (0)" !!They are not affiliated to my team and I don't control them. Couldn't advance the game even in Commissioner mode, but eventually got things to advance by going into, "League Setup", "Roster" Functions," Run Computer Manager on all teams".
Annoyingly I then had to re-edit my own squad for the following day and found 3 of my best players were on waivers!! A bug Markus !! Albeit a small one.
