We're looking for some new owners for the ULB right now, and are planning to make the jump to OOTP13 as soon as this season is completed.
We're a part of an active community over at simcentral.net and the ULB has been active for about a year and a half in real life. We started in 1995 as a competing league with the MLB. We're currently in the 2001 offseason. We have one current opening. We use OOTPOU and run sims during the regular season on MON/WED/FRI. We previously used Statslab, and will again once it is made to work with OOTP13. (We miss it!) All prospects are for the most part real life players who were drafted by the MLB, but for whatever reason never made it, with actual MLB players peppered in for good measure. We have a good mix of veterans and players who are new to OOTP.
I previously ran the Future Forties League back in the Days of OOTP 6.5, if you remember those days or that league. If you do, you'll see glimpses of the future that was layed out for that league in the ULBverse.
I'm looking for members who will be active both in the league and on the forums. We are good with both newbies and veterans. Most of us have been playing OOTP Online for almost a decade now, IIRC. If you sign up at simcentral.net, let me know your username, and I'll activate your account.
Available teams:
San Antonio DireWolves (91-63)
The DireWolves are currently challenged the front running Portland Pioneers in the Federal League Eastern Division last year but fell short. The roster includes 1B Paul Konerko (2nd overall pick in 1997) and CF Andruw Jones (1st overall pick in 1996) 3B Eric Chavez (6th overall in 1998), 1B Christos 'Stos' Tsocanos (7th overall in 1999) and SP Chris Russ (6th overall in 2000) make up the core of the team's current future. The addition last season of Pedro Borbon Jr was a srewd move as well, but the rest of the Pitchign staff needs to be built. The lineup is solid, but the pitching will be your main concern going forward in 2001. The DireWolves have a bright future, but there are questions as to where that future lies, as Owner Stan Kroenke has been looking for a new home since purchasing the team in 1999. His proposal to move to St. Louis was narrowly averted when funding for the stadium fell through at the last moment. San Antonio remains one of the weakest markets in the ULB, and Kroenke has been entertaining a possible move to Dallas for as early as the 2002 season.
