It's by design. A knuckball doesn't strain the arm nearly as much as other pitches, thus why they can have significantly higher pitch counts.
Yes. How else do you think I was able to pitch until I was 46? And, actually, if it wasn't for my degenerative hip condition, I might have made it to 50.
