Alternate History Question
Hello all,
I'm a newcomer to OOTP (I don't actually own it, but after some experience with other baseball sims I'm looking into possibly getting OOTP. It looks a little less daunting than it has in years past, prompting my perusal of screenshots, videos, etc.) with a lot of interest in historical replays.
My question involves the idea of alternate histories, as the thread title succinctly states. I like the idea of overturning historically bad trades or enacting trades that fell apart for whatever reason and seeing how history would have played out. Based on my research, I've gathered that you can instruct OOTP to use historical lineups, transactions, etc. in order to promote historical accuracy, though the team and player stats won't really reflect the historical stats. Anyway, is it possible to utilize these features up to a certain point, get to the day of the trade I would want overturned (as an example) and then turn off those options from that point on so that the rest of the year (and beyond) would play out on their own terms using the simulation engine?
Apologies for my long-winded question; I like to get very particular things out of sports sims, and admittedly may do far too much overly-specific research prior to a purchase than is perhaps healthy.
Thanks in advance for any help, and I've gotta say: even without knowing the answer to my question, OOTP 13 is looking like an awfully tempting purchase.
