First off, I do recall seeing this in OOTP12 and quite possibly in OOTP 11. That said, I don't think right away that this is a bug. IIRC, when you click the "Ask Manager" button, the AI will re-assign the pitcher's roles since the AI goes by how the pitchers are rated. If you have a SP that's rated more like a MR the AI will switch the two and vice versa. The AI will even assign the pitchers how it thinks they should appear in the rotation. Much the same thing can be said about the Lineups - who starts where and who rides the pine on the bench.
Bottom line....its all done by ratings.
