I like to click the option to have my manager set team stategy. I do this cause #1 I'm kinda lazy like that, but #2 it adds a little bit of depth to my game. For instance, I have a "theme" in mind for my team. I.e. scrappy speed demons, power hitters, good def and pitching etc...and I then have to find a manager to hire that will get the most out of that team based on their prefered strategy. And just for lessons sake, Whitey ball doesn't work with a lineup full of slow power hitters...
But to answer you question, I have found that the team strategy sliders have a great impact on each situation, each game and each season.
It does seem that they are not a "sensitive" as you would think. For instance if you want your lineup to swipe some bases, you really have to slide it almost to the end of "often" to see some hard results.
