Subject: Monarchs, Veteran Gonzalez Agree to Terms
Happy times in New York as the Monarchs and star starting pitcher Alfredo González put the finishing touches on a $17,500,000 contract extension that will keep the 37-year-old in town 2 years longer.
The signing is great news for New York because players of this caliber are hard to come by. In 21 starts this season González has chalked up a 9-6 record and a 3.83 ERA.

Bill Carter was determined to prevent another bidding war for Gonzalez and found a way to mend fences with his star pitcher. This contract should allow him to retire in a Monarchs uniform.
Don’t you love a happy ending?
