I am going to play the devils advocate here but can't you adjust players demands in the financial settings for superstar, star, average player and so on? In my leagues I see the best players asking for more but not an insane amount over my settings. Fortunatley if a cap amount was included it would be an option at the users descretion, but in real life after the Pujols, Fielder, arod signings wouldn't that be a detriment to realism factors? No league with a players union in the modern era would allow it. But with that being said, I have no idea what type of league you like to play. It seems like this would make the league a lot easier to play because you can almost get any player you wanted IMO. Then again its your league and not mine.
