While I'm discussing Grote, I may as well include this picture, taken during Spring Training 1965. Grote had played 3 games for 1963 Colt .45s and was a platoon regular in 1964, but he spent all of 1965 farmed out to Oklahoma City while Gus Triandos and Ron Brand handled the catching in Houston. So Grote never actually played a game as an Astro, but here he is in an Astros uni.

(You may notice that the 'stros have just patched a Lone Star over the ".45s" logo on the caps; apparently the full " 'H'-on-star" cap design hadn't been created yet.)
