I simply can't catch a break. 1917 Detroit Tigers. I lose Ty Cobb for the year only 2 weeks into the season. I plug along, staying right around .500. George Burns is having a decent season and whammo he's gone for 4 weeks. Then I begin the month of June by losing Sam Crawford for 3 weeks. Again, I stay right around the .500 mark thanks to Harry Heilmann and Bobby Veach. Burns returns to the lineup and a week later I welcome back Sam Crawford. I'm ready to roll, right? Wrong, the very day I get Crawford back, Bobby Veach goes down for 3 months(the season). UGH!
