TU Holds Off RU 7-6 In 29th All-Star Game
At Westerner Field in Waleska, the Tycobbian All-Stars smacked 13 hits, turned 3 double plays and came away with a 7-6 victory over the Ruthlandian Stars in the 29th renewal of the IPA All-Star Classic, giving them an overwhelming 20-9 edge in the star-studded series.

Ruthlandia took a 3-0 lead in the opening frame on LF Loco Dillinger's (Waleska) RBI single and a 2-run double by 1B Kees Draeger (Belair Beach), but couldn't hold on to it very long... Tycobbia came right back with 2 runs in the bottom of the first on Cotton Cornwall's (Ginza) 2-run bomb and 4 more in the second to take a 6-3 lead... 2B Howard Winston (Ginza) doubled in one, C Tonio Libertore (Cape Coral) doubled in a pair and LF Jim Lewellan (Colchester) finished off the inning by doubling in another score... the RU Stars came right back in the fourth frame and narrowed the score to 6-5 when loose defensive play cost the TU Stars 2 runs... after back-to-back errors by 3B Flash Devlin (La Claire)... 3B Leevi Viru (Valka) drove in one with a single and the second was plated when PH Lindsay Deal (Sugar Valley) hit into a double play... in the TU sixth a double by Mandu Purula (Summerland) and a single by C Brian Hatcher (Hillsboro) ran it up to 7-5... Ruthlandia closed out the scoring in the top of the seventh on a two-bagger by SS Jose De Leon (Waleska) and an RBI single by CF Herm Taylor (Crystal Lake).

The second pitcher for Tycobbia, Errol Gaudet (Rolling Hills) notched the victory with a scoreless second... Oxford's Kelly Morton got the save with a runless ninth... 3 twin killings help the TU cause... Clem Carmouche (Valmara) took the brunt of the beating and took the loss... Carmouche was slammed hard for 4 runs and 5 hits in just one-third of an inning... the RU Stars got 9 hits in defeat... only 2 players had more than one hit in the game... CF Jim Lewellan got a pair for the winners and 3B Leevi Viru collected 2 for Ruthlandia... Cornwall claimed the MVP Award with the game's only homer.
