Great actually. St. John's was desperate to get an AHL team back ever since we lost the Leafs, and I think out of spite (and horrible ownership) we turned our nose up to the QMJHL team we had and lost in the years in between. The city has responded like no one thought they would, they've sold the most season tickets of any team in the league, 4500-5000 season passes in an arena that holds 6500. Every game has been a sell out, and it's incredibly hard to get tickets unless you buy them well in advance. Tickets for the second half of the year went on sale a few weeks ago, and the team returns from the road for a January 6-15 homestand. So if that fits into your visit, you might want to jump on those tickets soon. Two of those games are against our former team, the Marlies... so that'll make tickets even harder to get. (

As far as on the ice, the team is, I believe, still undefeated during regulation on the road. They've struggled somewhat at home, but up until last week were the best team in the AHL. They currently sit four points out of first, even with their recent skid. What makes their success even more interesting is the depth the team has had to rely on, given injuries here and in Winnipeg and players getting called up because they weren't scoring. At one point we were missing our top 6 players, for a good week or two.
Absolutely love watching Kevin Clark play, short, fast, hard worker, and is always in the face of the opposition. Love him. Gonna be great seeing Jaffrey back at Mile One in the New Year!
... as you can see, having a team back here, has me a bit excited. :P
