2028 IPA Final 4 Series
Ruthlandian Union
Westerners Get Even, Trip Rovers 6-5 In Game 2
Game two of the RU Final 4 was a seesaw affair that was finally won by Waleska 6-5 with a stirring 2-run rally in the last of the ninth on CF Wilson James' (.344) 2-run single... the best-of-seven series is now locked up at one game each... in a gutsy performance 20-year-old rookie Terry Richards (2-0/3.42) permitted just 2 earned run in his 9-inning stint... Richards fired 9 strikeouts, walked 5 and allowed 5 total runs on 7 hits... closer Mike Flanagan (0-1) blew the save and lost it in the ninth.
Waleska jumped ahead 2-0 in the second on C Calico Clay's triple (.361) and a groundout by Doug Melton (.321)... the Rovers retaliated with 2 runs in the top of the third on an RBI single by LF Biff Blauer (.444) and RF Teddy Brunet's (.357) fielder's choice... only to have the Westerners take back the lead 4-2 in the bottom half on CF Loco Dillinger's (.382) 2-run salvo... Sligo tied it up 4-4 in the seventh when Clayton Ingram (.364) tripled and scored on an infield error and 1B Johnny Sackett (.278) hit a sac fly... the Rovers went in front 5-4 on 2 doubles by Ingram and SS Howie Robertson (.308), but reliever Flanagan could hold it.
Tycobbian Union
Mahaska Stuns Tucks Again, Wins 6-3 In Game 2
In a most unlikely turn of events, the unheralded and eighth-seeded Mahaska Haymakers have stunned the Pro Cup-favored Tuckanarra Blue Jays again in the Tycobbian Final 4... in a complete game Maxim Petrosian (1-1/3.92) held the Blue Jays to 3 runs - just one of them earned - and 7 hits... Petrosian was sharp with 9 Ks and just one walk... Petrosian was backed up by a 14-hit Haymaker attack that bombed Jamie Gustafson (1-1/3.94) for 5 runs and 11 hits in 7 innings... It was 6-2 when Gustafson departed the game... SS Lyndon Washington (.300) led the onslaught with a pair of hits and 3 RBIs... Tuckanarra SS Jed Turchin (.481) had 2 runs batted in to lead them.
