2028 IPA Final 4 Series

Ruthlandian Union

Perkins Prevails, Sligo Whips Waleska 5-3
Game one in the Ruthlandian Final 4 went to the Sligo Rovers behind the strong pitching of Earl Perkins, who dismissed the power-laden Waleska Westerners on 6 hits in a 5-3 victory at Westerner Field... Perkins (2-2/2.52) went the distance, fanned 5 and also walked 5... both teams scored in the opening inning... RF Teddy Brunet (.385) doubled in a run for the Rovers and CF Roy Hobbs' (.333) base hit plated a run for the Westerners... a big 3-run fourth frame carried the Rovers to victory... 1B Johnny Sackett (.303) doubled in the first run and C Wendell Crosby (.310) had a 2-run single to highlight the inning... Sligo added its final score in the fifth on a triple by LF Biff Blauer (.478) and another single by Crosby, who led the team with 3 RBIs... Waleska cut it to 5-3 in the last of the eighth on a 2-run single by Wilson James (.321)... losing pitcher Wild Bill Butler (0-3/4.50) lasted only 5 innings, gave up 5 runs, fanned 5 and walked 5... Sligo had the edge in hits 8 to 6... James and Hobbs led the Westerners with 2 hits each.

Tycobbian Union

Mahaska Massacres Tucks 15-6 In Opener
There was a shocker in Tuckanarra in the first game of the Tycobbian Final 4 Series... underdog Mahaska massacred the heavily-favored Blue Jays 15-6, ripping them for 17 hits... the Haymakers broke up a 1-0 pitching duel between Arno Vainmaa and Quinn Starr by putting up 6 runs on the scoreboard twice in back-to-back innings, the sixth and the seventh, eventually building up a 15-1 margin by the ninth... the Blue Jays then had a big inning of their own, but it was too little, too late... RF Travis Tuttle (.292) and 2B Todd Tarkovsky (.417) sparked the rout with 4 RBIs apiece... Vainmaa (3-0/4.15) went the route and cruised to victory, though he allowed 12 hits and 6 runs... 1B Lynn Starr (.211) and 3B Koora Nawajuk (.524) topped the Tucks with 2 hits and 2 RBIs each... Quinn Starr (2-1/5.01) was shelled for 7 runs in 5 innings for the loss.
